A Cat A Day: 160/365

Please meet Miss Pearl Bailey and Dolly the Yorkie. This photo was sent to me by Caroline Bailey, with whom I went to school many a long year ago. When we arrived at secondary school, Caroline and I were the two tallest girls in first year. She kept growing tall and willowy. I stopped and remained pretty average.

I remember lots of things, but one of my favourites was sharing a tent at school camp for a week. All the other kids were in big scout camp-type group tents, but Caroline and I had a tent to ourselves and felt special.

I’ve said before that I enjoy seeing cats and dogs getting on well together. Even more when the dog is a Yorkie. I know my friends Dominic McGladdery and Pauline Bailes will also enjoy today’s photo.

Thanks Caroline – your other kitties will also appear over the coming weeks.

Encouraged by yesterday’s recording of Rosie snoring, I’ve managed today to capture the sound of Willow’s miaow. We’ve had Siamese for years and are used to their loud and expressive wowling. Willow came as a surprise; he has a quiet and almost ‘broken’ miaow. It’s very cute but he doesn’t do it often. Now I can listen to him whenever I want.

Yesterday the Cat A Day was Sue Coates’ cat Buckley. Unfortunately, I could hardly tell you anything about him, because I’d lost his details. Today I have a picture of Buckley again, but this time with his feline companion Othello. I suspected it, but didn’t want to make a mistake; both of them are Burmese.

Another picture and more details soon . . .

Gorgeous, chilled-out Buckley belongs to Sue Coates. He lives with Sue and his fellow cat Othello in Seaham, which is very close to my home. Unfortunately, my Cat A Day filing system has let me down and I can’t find any of the other information Sue sent me. I’ll just have to remedy that by showing another picture of him soon.

We have been renovating our house for almost two years and it’s been a long, expensive haul. We run out of money/energy from time to time. But this week has seen some progress. We’ve bought lots of Billy and Benno bookcases and CD storage towers from Ikea (15 of them) and have toiled away in the warmth to build them.

Naturally, they then have to be checked for structural integrity by all resident felines. Cosmo seems to have approved….

Lovely Asda advert for barbecue meat on the tv too.

There have been loud complaints around these parts. Apparently, I haven’t been posting enough photographs of our own kitties.

So … here is Isobel with Malteser and Rosie. Poor Rosie has a pink scrunchie around her neck and was forced to wear it for about 2 hours after this picture was taken. Tribulations of living with a pre-teen girl…
