A Cat A Day 2013 #231

A few doors away from our little holiday home, there is a French family who have brought their cat and dog on holiday with them. It’s the first time in my life I have seen a cat on a chain. I asked ‘Il est amiable?’, but the gentleman shook his head and said ‘Pas tellement’. I kept my distance; perhaps it was a highly-trained and vicious guard-cat?

Helen Daykin is a firm friend of this blog and has shared lots of pictures with me. This latest is the earliest I have yet seen of her with her first Siamese cat. I am guessing this is Midge, who we met in May here.  They do look like good friends. My own cats steered clear of my two children when they were this size, in order to avoid drool, sticky hands and having their tails pulled.

Helen plans to send me a similar picture of her young daughter Pearl with her cat Bridget. Bridget has a fearsome reputation, so I hope there will be no unfortunate incidents!

My friend Lynda sent me these two pictures of her lovely cat Fudge. He has taken to following Lynda’s husband when he takes their dog Holly on her evening walk.

The other picture shows Fudge’s tail after Lynda’s grandson Jack has kindly applied sun cream to it. I bet Fudge didn’t appreciate Jack’s thoughtfulness.

Sue is a fellow-teacher and cat lover who lives quite near to me. Over two years ago I posted pictures of her beautiful Burmese cats Othello and Buckley. Very sadly, Buckley died a few months later in an accident at home.

I will leave it to Sue to tell you about today’s pictures:

Ophelia seems totally at home already but Othello is being a grumpy, hissy thing! He’s a bit better today so they’ll be best friends soon enough I suppose. It’s taken me 18 months or so to decide to replace Buckley – Burmese being such social cats I thought Othello needed company. I am sure it’ll work out.
Ophelia is a Lilac Burmese with a Lilac Tortie mum who is a grand champion. She’s a cutie for sure!

Well here’s a thing: my 12 year-old son Ted is in France on a school trip, my 13 year-old daughter Isobel is in Manchester overnight at her first live gig (Orla Gartland, since you ask), so I thought I would have a romantic evening with Mr Joyce.

Erm. No.

Three days ago, one of his oldest friends invited him for their first blokes’ night out in about 18 months. Soooo, it’s just me, Murray and Janowicz. Not very relaxing just at the moment at one set all, early in the third set.

Today’s beautiful picture was drawn just for my blog by Isobel’s friend Jess. She really has a skilled touch, doesn’t she? Thank you very much indeed, Jess!

My friend Jo, Milka and Florence’s breeder, sent me an email the other day with some great pictures of two more of her kittens in their new home. However, although I saved the photographs, I can’t track down the email. Consequently, I don’t know the names of these kittens or their Bassett hound friend. However, I do remember that Rosa is doing well, her skin is nearly healed and she loves being back at home.

I will tell you the names of these pets when I post the second photograph.
