I’m attempting to capture the wonder of Cosmo’s huge fennec-like ears. He could fly like Dumbo if he tried.

I’m lying on my bed feeling awful. Pushkin and Malteser have perched on the side of my ribcage and are snuggling me and purring comfortingly. This is why I love cats.

Cosmo found Isobel and Ted’s pile of clean school uniform. I caught him just as he was settling down for comfortable sleep and chased him.

Today’s pictures show Emma (@noxidle) and her son Samuel, who visited us this weekend. Samuel charmed us all, even treating us to a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Here, they’re cuddling Rosie, who came to us with her companion Willow when Emma needed to find them a new home. Rosie loved seeing her proper mum and Willow shouted and looked for her for 10 minutes after she left.
We all hope that Emma and her mum Lynda (@enterpriselynda) come and visit us again soon.

Isobel and I took a chance to get closer to Willow this morning. In spite of his quizzical ears, we’re sure he’s more comfortable than a few days ago when he was last picked up, because he didn’t tremble and shake this time.

Today’s picture is from the archives. It’s lilac-point Pushkin just before we got married in October 1998. As a young man, he was the most athletic and skilled cat I’ve ever owned. Among other tricks, he not only retrieved like a dog (which Siamese often will), he would also catch small objects with his paws in mid-air and put them into his mouth before he landed. I wish I’d had a Flip camera then.
January 2nd’s photograph shows 14 year-old Pushkin as he is today.

It’s slowly dawning on me that there is a certain amount of effort required to maintain a Project 365. And I’m only on Day 6.
I’ve discovered that:
- I’d prefer my photographs to be in focus; I hadn’t noticed that they weren’t before
- I’d like them not to be same-y; a challenge in a 3 bedroom house, even with 5 cats to play with
- It would be better if I didn’t wait until after 10pm to take each day’s picture
Today’s photograph is of Willow, who is a little calmer and more confident each day.
