I stepped out of my normal life routines this weekend; I spent Saturday stimulating my professional brain and enjoyed brunch with my daughter and lovely friends at Café Rouge in Durham today. Afterwards, we wandered into the Whittard tea and coffee shop. Isobel chose some Turkish Apple tea and I bought a pretty blue cup with hand-painted white stars. I liked this cat-themed mug, but wasn’t tempted to buy it. My love is living, furry, purring cats, not cat pictures, calendars, mugs or other knick-knacks.

On 5th September,  I promised to bring you a picture of Bertie, Vicky Pollitt’s cat, in the sink. Today’s cat Ernie is Bertie’s companion. I love it when cats hide their faces with their paws like this. Sweeeeet.

MevMev and Porter

I only know today’s cats’ owner by her Twitter username @rantingteacher. She tweets anonymously and is full of wisecracks, heart and honesty. She is also a cat-lover and one of her pets had a very major operation today. I don’t know which, so here is a little gallery. I’m sending lots of best wishes for a happy recovery.
