There have been loud complaints around these parts. Apparently, I haven’t been posting enough photographs of our own kitties.
So … here is Isobel with Malteser and Rosie. Poor Rosie has a pink scrunchie around her neck and was forced to wear it for about 2 hours after this picture was taken. Tribulations of living with a pre-teen girl…

All I know about today’s French cat is that his name is Pastis, he belongs to someone called Hélène and lives in the countryside with my friend Christine Raynal. A handsome chap.
My friend Alex just welcomed a new kitten into his home. Skimbleshanks is his name and his speciality seems to be climbing all over his new owner. This is Skimbles when he was even littler and more adorable. I can’t express his cuteness in words.
I just can’t.
Sunday evening. No school tomorrow. Wine has been imbibed. Cosmo has been thoroughly cuddled. By me.

Pushkin passed away in February. Like every cat, he loved to sit in the sunshine and he was very determined about it. We were having a new kitchen installed and all the parcels were piled up in the dining room. No problem; he just climbed up and sat on the side edges of the boxes.
I do miss his furry purry cuddles.
It’s been a struggle for me today with lots of sad goodbyes. Among many friendly young faces I will no longer see every day is Gareth Lang’s. Lovely Gareth is our Head Boy, a member of my tutor group and a student in my GCSE French class.
Today’s photo is a cute one of his family’s cat Ginger as a kitten. Sweeeeeet!
Elliot the dog and this cat belong to Christine Raynal, one of our fabulous French Exchange host teachers. I’m so disappointed I can’t remember Christine’s cat’s name, but I could never forget Elliot, because he’s a crazy, friendly, excitable loon. When I first heard Christine talk to him, I thought he was called ‘idiot’ because of how Elliot is pronounced in French.

At last – a photograph of Snowy!
I’ve been asking my colleague Jonathan l’Hoiry for photographs of his beloved cats for ages and this afternoon an email popped into my inbox. Jonathan loves his pets so much that today he spent £12 on a special (human ladies’) Tangle Teezer brush for their fur. One of the three cats has sensitive skin and he wanted a gentler way of soothing the tangles.
That’s devotion.

A cheeky kitten is just what a person needs on a Monday evening after a tough day. This little rogue is called Ninja and belongs to Rowena Allen. He’s one of a pair who recently entered her life and this is what she told me:
‘ [The kittens are] about 11 weeks old. He likes to creep up on his sister and pounce with all his might! They are both adorable but the also like to wake me up every morning very early by licking my face… not sure I am that keen on that !!!’
… nor would I be Rowena, you might have to resort to closing the bedroom door. Thank you so much for sending Ninja’s picture to me. I want to see his sister now!!
