Today’s guest cat lives with Claire Parker and this is what she told me about her:
“Lilu is a british chocolate tortie colourpoint, an elderly lady now at nearly 13! How many years is that in cat years? Very fluffy, very gentle, thinks she’s human, sleeps all night and tries to eat my porridge !!”
Nice to meet you Lilu; your fur looks super-soft and your eyes are a gorgeous colour.

I have the flu. When I have the shivers and shakes, Malteser’s bossy devotion is welcome. However, in the sweaty delirious phase, a warm furry scarf is not recommended . . .

Isobel took this photograph of Willow looking very comfortable in an Ikea bag this morning. She also pointed out that his nose-pad is heart-shaped, which is part of what makes his face so appealing. I think she’s right.

Alex Bellars and his wife Catherine have a new cat in the house. Aeryn (what a beautiful name!) arrived from the cat shelter just a couple of weeks ago and she has been very shy. But if you look carefully, you will see that she is allowing someone to rub her tummy, a sure sign of trust from any cat. She’s starting to settle right in. Cats know when they’re on to a good thing.

Cosmo has been looking for Pushkin all weekend. They used to sleep in the same bed and he’s lonely. Sent using BlackBerry?? from Orange

With the death of Pushkin yesterday, I’m feeling nostalgic. This is Pushkin’s brother, Hershey – a chocolate point, naturally. He was cross-eyed, knock-kneed and had a heart murmur. He was also the bossiest cat I’ve ever lived with and would ride round the house on my shoulder like a parrot, shouting in my ear. My mother, grandma and best friend clubbed together to buy Pushkin and Hershey for me. They were the first cats I ever owned myself and now they’re both gone.

Pushkin has passed away. An awfully sad day for all of us. I don’t have the heart to search for long for a photograph of him. This picture is from way back when Isobel was tiny and we were sitting outside enjoying the sunshine in the garden. Although I don’t look very cheerful . . .

A lot of attention on Pushkin at the moment. I’m struggling with the question of whether one must take a pet to the vet for euthanasia when one knows he is near the end of his life.
