A Cat A Day 2013 #25

I enjoyed a rather inspiring professional development day today and am now relaxing and looking forward to a peaceful weekend with my family. Friday really is my favourite evening of the week.

Here is the wonderfully-named McNulty who came to live with Clare in the last few weeks. Clare is really good at taking photographs, isn’t she? Another picture of this little guy and his story are coming soon.

A Cat A Day 2013 #23

Gorgeous, luxuriantly-furred Milo lives on the Isle of Wight with his brother Rex in the house of Tracy Hall. The cats came from the Cat Protection League and Milo is very sweet, but can be picky and the only person he likes is Tracy herself. I love the clarity and crispness of this photograph.

A Cat A Day 2013 #17

Amanda was of my best friends at school and we spent a lot of teenage growing-up time together. We sang duets in school concerts, cooked meals and had masses of sleepovers. Her older brother taught me to love Elvis Costello (My Aim Is True-era), her mum always made me welcome and her dad was the coolest one I knew; he rode a motorbike.

At 16, our paths diverged and eventually we lost touch. Twenty years on, we found each other again through Facebook. Amanda lives in London now, her two children are a similar age to mine and she makes a living using her wonderful gift for music, particularly her voice. We haven’t seen each other for a while, but it doesn’t matter; the link has been remade and it makes me very happy.

Today’s guest cat is Amanda’s. He was just a baby at the time of this photograph and rejoices in the brilliant name of Mr Weasley. I just love it!

Thanks Amanda and let’s remember to get together again before too long x

You may be sceptical, but I honestly don’t plan for Milka to feature in 99% of my blogposts. I put the call out to my Twitter friends asking for guest contributions and have received lots of kind responses. Among them was a veritable avalanche of photographs from the generous @nicky_doubleU.

I know nothing about these two cats, but I really like how they have both tucked their front paws so neatly through the railings. I’m also impressed by the intensity of the hard stares they are giving the camera.

Thank you Nicky!

Update: These two are mother and daughter; Parda the mum is on the right and her daughter is Lili. Nicky rescued them when their owner was ill and sadly later died. They do appear to be queens of all they survey, don’t they?

Shadow_the_cat

This gorgeous girl is called Shadow. She belongs to the Grandma of one of my Y9 French students, who was kind enough to share her photograph with me. Shadow is shy, but she is also a cuddle cat who enjoys sitting on people’s laps and purring. The photograph itself is really beautiful, I think.

Watch out for handsome Foxy, who will appear soon.
