A Cat A Day 2013 #129

I am a glutton.
In lots of ways: for punishment, for chocolate and for Siamese.
Not content with bringing Rosa from Jo’s to retire to our house last Saturday, we also fell in kitty-love with this little guy. He is coming to live with us this Saturday. We are not going to acquire a cat every week, I have promised my husband. Five is full capacity and will provide us with plenty of fun, games and cuddles.

20130506-211230.jpgThis is Milka’s mum, Tabitha. Rosa is keeping a low profile still. She likes the utility room and I have been able to get close to her, stroke her and pick her up twice today. Milka is trying to make friends too. I am not worried yet; this is a big change for Rosa, who has always lived in the house where she was born. It’s only natural for her to need several days to adjust.

I just love this photograph of my friend Helen when she was a little girl. She and I share a love of Siamese which goes back to childhood. Helen’s cat Midge has just sneaked into the background because this is obviously intended to be a portrait of Helen in her new dress (which her mum had made).

Helen says “Midge was my best friend and the reason why I have Bridget now.” Siamese get you that way. I have often tried to explain it by saying that they are like dogs in cat bodies.

20130411-210419.jpg These glossy, gorgeous and affectionate sisters are Lily and Bella. Their mum is my friend Helen’s rescue Lilac Point, Luna. The girls live on the Isle of Wight and it sounds as if they lead a wonderful life. Apparently they rule the roost and are complete madams; when they want something, they just yell and someone jumps immediately to do their bidding. Lily and Bella’s home must be in the countryside, because they live on a quiet dead-end road and there is plenty of wildlife and a river close by. However, this is not a perfect cat haven; their owner Katie tells me that their cat flap privileges have been withdrawn since they brought a rat into the house (!)

History does not tell if they killed it first …

Bliss. The holidays are here. I have snaffled these pictures from my friend Helen. A friend gave Helen a foil blanket for her baby, Pearl.

Pearl wasn’t at all impressed, but Winston the Apricot Point and Luna, the rescue Lilac Point feel far more positive.

We considered a few captions, from ‘How to barbecue your cat’ to ‘SPACE CAT!’.

This friendly cat lives somewhere near where my husband John works. Sometimes it comes and flirts with him in the car park. It took 18 snaps for John to catch these two pictures, because she wouldn’t stay still, rolling around and standing on her back legs for strokes.
