A Cat A Day: 13/366

Photographic evidence that Willow is very fond of Florence. She was sitting there first and he appeared and curled himself around her. The shadow in the top right of the picture is Cosmo, who is having a difficult phase at the moment. It’s taking him a while to adjust to the almost simultaneous loss of Rosie and the arrival of Florence. We are pretty sure that his eyesight is poor and that’s why he is so shy and easily frightened. If he can’t see or understand what is happening, it’s incomprehensible or positively scary. So, despite the fact that he’s huge, strong and impressively handsome, he’s a classic scaredy-cat.

A Cat A Day: 7/366

This morning I discovered that Cosmo also likes Catch The Mouse. The bald patch on the top of his head appeared just after we lost Rosie. We think that Willow showed his distress by attacking Cosmo. It’s OK, the fur will grow back.

Today we received a visit from Rosie’s original mum, Emma and one of her sons, Samuel. I really enjoyed seeing her and hearing stories of Rosie’s earlier life. Willow seems to remember Emma, because he was dramatically less shy than he is with strangers. But he was still a bit rubbish and Emma only got one squirmy cuddle. Emma put on a brave face, but I was so disappointed on her behalf.
